Regardless if you have great genes and still look like you’re 21, or you’ve never gave it a thought in the world to take care of your skin and now regret it, we still all freak out every time we see wrinkles or a sun spot on our face right? Try not freaking out when your medication causes your skin to go berserk and you get color discoloration from the sun, eczema or psoriasis and a whole bunch of headaches!
As I had mentioned in my previous blog, MCTD has been a pain in the butt (literally speaking as well), and having to take a whole bunch of medications has definitely been a big change in my life, particularly if you are not used to taking them. It’s the same thing when you are now required to wear sunscreen when you’ve never gave it a single thought. “I’m already tan, why do I NEED to apply sunscreen?” Wrong…
You can imagine how ecstatic I was when my doctor switched my medication from Methotrexate to Plaquinol…
But then after being warned that I needed to stay out of the sun and that I definitely need to apply sunscreen every. single. day. I went ahead and didn’t listen and had fun in the sun. Then it got really frustrating when I suddenly noticed a sun spot around the mouth beginning to spread towards my cheeks and chin.
I tried everything from applying DIY face masks, lemon juice and trying out different facial moisturizers. Nothing worked, and trust me when I say that I was very very frustrated. Then one of my friends recommended I try a product from Mary Kay. At first I was very skeptical since
I’ve tried everything, but then she reassured me that it would help me since she had another client who had a similar issue. So I figured what the heck, I went ahead and ordered the Tone Correcting Serum.
After applying it twice a day for about two months, I didn’t think it was working, but it turned out that people around me started to notice the difference.
Now I make sure to wash my face twice a day, apply the tone corrector twice a day as well as well as my Healthy Defense Daily Moisturizer with Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50 from Neutrogena every morning. Since I’m indoors all day, I still forget to apply sunscreen on my entire body, but I know I definitely need to improve on that.
The moral to this story is make sure and apply your sunscreen, thankfully I caught it early and got the right products to help me get rid of that sun spot. You also want to wary of the sun anyways as Skin Cancer is no laughing matter.
